Castelfalfi: A Memorable Destination for a Memorable Golfing Holiday

Though golfing holidays have been a popular form of getaway for many years now, if you are looking for something a bit different than the usual seaside based destinations, you should consider taking a trip to Castelfalfi. Castelfalfi is a medieval village of over 800 years old that sits within a dense estate in the beautiful Tuscan countryside of around 110 hectares. Although it had essentially become a ghost town when the majority of the locals upped and left during the 60’s, a painstaking and inspirational renovation project has brought the area back to life.

If you are looking for an authentic experience of what Tuscan life is really like and a golfing holiday of your dreams, Castelfalfi is the place or you. Thanks to the balanced climate of Tuscany, it is perfect for playing golf throughout the year. Castelfalfi’s purpose made golf courses were designed with sustainability in mind, making it both a stunning and challenging place to play a round of golf as the courses merge into the surrounding countryside.

In total there are 2 courses of 27 holes at Castelfalfi that will suit both beginners to the sport and experts looking for real challenges, and is often a popular destination for golf travel. As well as the 2 main courses, there is also a driving range where you can practice teeing off and golfing clinics held in covered areas and a small clubhouse that has a bar and a terrace nearby so you don’t have to go very far for a bite to eat and a drink after your game.

The Lake Course and The Mountain Course have both been created so that regardless of whether you want to play a full 18-hole game or a shorter, 9-hole game you start and end at the clubhouse. The courses were designed by the internationally renowned and award winning course designers Rainer Preissmann and Wilfried Moroder.

The Lake Course

The Lake Course is Castelfalfi’s 9-hole course and was first opened for play in November 2011. The Lake Course was specifically created to cater to golfers of all experience levels and handicaps.

The Mountain Course

The Mountain Course is Castelfalfi’s monstrous 18 hole course that was first opened for play in August 2010 and in a relatively short time it has become established and well-known as a course that offers breath-taking views and a challenging round of golf.   The course has a Par 72 and is open to both experts and beginners. The design of the Mountain Course fits perfectly with the topography of the land, which provides you with natural water hazards and obstacles to navigate through.

It also means that each hole’s fairway has a different look and feel. Undeniably the highlight of this course is the 9th hole, a Par 3 hole that is located in one of the most scenic and green areas of the course.

As you can see from the above if you want a memorable golfing holiday that will take your breath away due to the scenery and the challenging rounds of golf offered, there are many reasons why you should make Castelfalfi your first choice.
