Off-Season Yachting in Croatia: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

Have you ever had your vacation blown up due to a high-season horde? Ever wonder how much fun a holiday destination could be during the off-season?

Croatia is one such destination where the high-season crowd and expenses could make your holiday a messy ordeal. Read on to know how off-season yachting compares to high-season yachting in Croatia.

Croatia is a country where yachting is wonderful, be it any season. The typical tourist crowd visits Croatia to sail among its islands during spring and early summer season.

There is also the option of traveling to Croatia and yachting in its crystal-clear waters during the low-season. This will ensure that it’s not too crowded, so you can make the most out of your yachting adventure.

While the summer season is the best time to experience the chirpy side of Croatia, spring and early winter seasons are the times for getting a real intimate feel for this beautiful destination.

The months of January, February and March are the best peaceful times in Croatia for off-season yachting. Not only are the fares of many popular charters low during the off-season, but the silent beaches and lonesome lanes have a beauty of their own when the crowd is at its minimum. These months may be too cold for some tastes though.

Yachting in Croatia

The typical yachting season in Croatia begins roughly in between the end of April and beginning of May. After May up until October is the heavy tourist season with a huge numbers of visitors including yachters.

The months of July and August always mark the peak of visitors owing to the fact that this period is well-known to be the party time in Croatia. Festivals, international events, parties, etc. take place during this time. On the other hand, three things that may put off your ideal Croatian yachting tour from becoming a memory worth cherishing are expenses, temperature, and over-crowdedness.

Expenses during the Off-season

Most services for yachting are highly priced during the peak season with little to absolutely no offers or discounts. So if you wish to spend most of your time in Croatia exploring the seas and yachting your way to beautiful locations, keep in mind that off-season yachting would be the best time for this, considering the costs.

Depending on the size of the boat you wish to go for or the marinas you choose, the berth prices will vary from service to service. Off-season yachting calls for special discounts, offers, and combo packs. Many popular charters provide attractive deals on boats and related services. But keep in mind, all charters may not provide the best in quality during the off-season. Make sure you do thorough research about the services and you pick the ones which provide quality at reasonable rates.

Weather Conditions

A very important point to consider while deciding on your yachting adventure in Croatia is the climate. Spring season, especially May is a good time for sailing in Croatia’s beautiful waters. It is the time when nature’s hues are so spectacular, you can’t miss it.

Once the high season is over, Croatia’s tourist crowd lessens in the months of September and October. People choose this period to yacht in Croatia because it is less cool than the months of November and December. With a total of 112 sunny days every year, Croatia is one of the sunniest areas in the Mediterranean. Additionally, the country doesn’t have any extreme climatic conditions during the off-season. It is the ideal time to spend on a luxury charter with the still warm waves splashing along the side of the boat.

On the Sea

During at least some of the off-season time, the sea is perfectly warm for swimming and other aquatic activities. The best part about yachting during off-peak period in Croatia is that the traffic in the seas is much smaller.

With the sea being less crowded, you get enough space and time to explore the islands. It is somewhat safer and probably more comfortable to yacht with friends and family during this time. You can focus more on relaxation and family time.

Though the peak season has its merits, such as fantastic weather and lots of events, it can also be quite troublesome. The periods from April to May and September to October mark the best off-season yachting time. Nice weather with long days, cooler winds, fewer crowds, and attractive prices make off-season yachting in Croatia something to consider for your holiday time with your family.
